The role of the cable after armouring and twisting

Many people are curious about the role of stranded and armored cables compared to ordinary cables. Let's take a look.

The copper wires of different specifications and different numbers are twisted together in a certain arrangement order and laying pitch to become a conductor with a larger diameter. The copper wire is softer, the wire has good bending performance, and it is not easy to break during the swing test. It is easier to meet the requirements for some wires that require softness (for example, medical grade wires).

From the perspective of electrical performance: after the conductor is energized, the resistance consumes electricity and generates heat. As the temperature rises, the performance life of the insulating layer and protective layer materials will be affected. In order to make the cable run efficiently, the conductor cross-section should be increased, but a single wire with a large cross-section It is not easy to bend and has poor flexibility, which is very unfavorable for production, transportation, installation and laying. In terms of mechanical properties, it is also required to have flexibility and reliability. Multiple single wires are twisted together and twisted to solve the contradiction.

Armored cable refers to a cable with an armored protective layer of metal material. The purpose of adding an armored layer to the cable is not only to enhance the mechanical protection such as tensile strength and compressive strength to prolong the service life, but also to improve the anti-interference performance of the cable through shielding protection.

Commonly used armoring materials are steel tape, steel wire, aluminum tape, aluminum tube, etc. Among them, steel tape and steel wire armoring layer has high magnetic permeability and good magnetic shielding effect. It is more practical to install cables and lay them directly without passing through pipes, and it is cheap and high-quality.
