First, the classification is different: network cable cat5e and cat6 are two different types of network cables, cat5e belongs to super five network cables, and cat6 belongs to six types of network cables. Although the classification is different, both work the same, both have the same type of RJ-45 plug, and can plug into any Ethernet jack on a computer, router, or other similar device.
Second, the transmission bandwidth is different: Cat5e's transmission frequency bandwidth is 100MHz, while Cat6's transmission frequency bandwidth is 250MHz, and the two have obvious differences.
Third, the difference in the highest transmission speed and distance: Cat5e network cable is used in Gigabit Ethernet, the transmission distance can reach 100m, and it can support 1000Mbps transmission speed. Cat6 network cables can provide transmission speeds of up to 250Gbps in a bandwidth of 10MHz. Cat6 is best suited for applications with a transmission rate of 1Gbps.
Fourth, the use of 10GBASE-T applications is different: Cat5e network cable and Cat6 network cable transmission distance is 100m, but when using 10GBASE-T application, Cat6 network cable transmission distance can reach up to 55 meters.
Fifth, the difference in transmission performance: Cat6 network cable has an internal splitter, which can reduce interference or near-end crosstalk (NEXT), compared with Cat5e network cable, it also improves remote crosstalk (ELFEXT), and return loss and insertion loss are lower, therefore, Cat6 network cable performance is better.
